Sherwin-Williams Forte on a St. Paul Balcony

We used Sherwin-Williams Forte, satin, on a St. Paul apartment balcony. Textured concrete. One coat hid well. We still did two. We bought the can at Sherwin-Williams in Cottage Grove, 7430 E Point Douglas Rd S.

Forte is a waterborne urethanized acrylic. Interior and exterior. Vertical and horizontal. We used satin on this floor.

What we noticed on the job

Coverage surprised us. One coat hid well. We still did two, which is how we treat most balcony coats when the spec calls for it. The mix felt right on the roller.

We will look at the floor again in about three days. After that we probably will not see it until the tenant moves out. If it holds up, we will put it on other jobs. If it does not, we will say that too.

From the Sherwin-Williams data sheet, not a lab we run

Single-component urethanized acrylic. Soap and water cleanup.
Interior and exterior. Horizontal and vertical.
Can go on properly prepared metal or concrete. The sheet still calls for primer on some steel and high-pH masonry.
Coverage about 350 to 400 square feet per gallon at 4 mils wet, Extra White. Color can change that.
Recoat in about 2 hours. Foot traffic in about 4 hours. Wheeled traffic about 24 hours. Those times are at 77°F and 50% humidity.
Application down to 35°F. Do not apply if it may drop below 35°F in the next 48 hours.
Not for horizontal surfaces where hot tire pickup is a concern. This balcony is not that.

Minnesota weather still wins if you rush it.
