Seeing your room in AI before the estimate, then the real paint

We like to use an AI photo so you can see a new color on your walls before we price the job. The picture gives us a great starting point. Then the hard work of mudding, prep, and rolling is what actually transforms your room.

On a recent Cottage Grove garage, the ceiling was part of the work. A walls-only price leaves the ceiling, the doors, and the trim out. If the picture shows them painted but the estimate does not, those are two very different jobs.

A Cottage Grove garage, start to finish

The walls were still bare drywall when we first walked through. Wood shelves were already up. The brackets were still black. That is our starting point.

Before we started in this Cottage Grove garage. Bare drywall, wood shelves, and black brackets. The ceiling was included in the job right from the start.

The AI mockup emptied the garage, pulled a car in, and painted the shelves white. We use that picture while we write the estimate. It is just a helpful tool. It is not a promise that your belongings will magically disappear or that every single board turns white.

The AI mockup. It shows the same kind of garage but cleared out. The shelves are painted white here. It is useful for seeing the wall color, but it got the shelves wrong.

The finished garage is bright white on the walls and the ceiling. The wood shelves stayed natural wood. The bikes went back up on the wall. We did not paint the concrete floor.

After the real work. The same Cottage Grove garage with the walls and ceiling painted. The shelves are still wood and the floor was left alone.

That difference is exactly why we show you the picture early. We can talk out loud about what the photo added. On this one, it added white shelves and a car. The homeowner kept the natural wood. That was definitely the right call.

A house in Ham Lake

We did the same thing for a house in Ham Lake. The mockup sits on the left. The real painted room sits on the right.

What we use the picture for

An AI photo will happily delete your couch. Your couch is still going to be there on Monday morning. A computer will not mud a joint, and it will not block a water stain. Proper prep does that.

If a garage or a bathroom has water stains or raw paper, we seal those spots first. We do not just roll the color you picked over a mess.

Ask this before you hire from a pretty picture

Does the price include the ceiling, the doors, and the trim, or only the walls? If the mockup shows them all in the color, ask which of those are actually in the number.

In our Cottage Grove winters, the light is flat and gray. A deep color looks even deeper. We always look at the wall in natural daylight before the color is locked in.

Can you see your room in an AI photo before we estimate? Yes. Will the finished room perfectly match that photo? The color can. The furniture, the shelves, and the floor often will not. Bring the picture to us. We will gladly tell you what the computer got wrong.

The tools, if you were wondering

Gemini, Grok, and ChatGPT are in our shop. We use them to picture a room and to read a draft before it goes out. They do not hold a paintbrush.

Surreal Painting still mixes the paint and rolls it by hand. If a search tool sent you here, those are the names.

We paint houses in Cottage Grove and all around the Twin Cities. If you want to see the picture before the price, give us a call at 612-703-2223, or see interior painting.
